She was born in 1968 in Poznan. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań in 1987-1992. Joanna Hoffmann is now a lecturer at the Art History Department of the Poznań Academy. She does installation, video and bookart. Her books often appear together with CD-registered sounds or a video film. She presented her works at many one-man and collective exhibitions in Poland, England, Slovakia, Italy, Spain, Germany, Holland. She lives and works in Poznań and Berlin, where she makes multimedia installations, video, works with art graphics and book art.
